FREE TIPS:

Care for Your Silk

Silk, being a completely natural fabric, is comfortable to wear and, if treated carefully, will stay beautiful for many years.

Silk can be washed by hand. Please use a gentle detergent and rinse well. You may add a little fabric softener. Please make sure that the detergent is fully dissolved or use a liquid one. Please wash the fabric by constantly moving it though the water. To avoid discolouration do not soak the silk or let it sit in the water.

We recommend hand-washing for the first few times, subsequently, the silk can be machine-washed on a short cycle with the water at 30 degrees Celsius. After spinning, hang your garment outside, avoiding direct sunlight. Iron when still damp at cotton temperature. If you cannot iron right away, you may wrap the silk in plastic and store it in the refrigerator. Iron within 48 hours and the result will be perfect!

For dark coloured silk we recommend dry cleaning or careful hand-washing. Again, don’t soak the silk and rinse well; you may add a little fabric softener to the final rinse.

A few tips

* It is not necessary to pre-wash the fabric before making into garments.
* Fitted skirts should be lined with viscose, not cotton
* Clothes made from the heavier silks should have the hems interlocked, not folded double.
* Please don’t use starch as it damages the threads.

Enjoy your silk!
